This prestigious project was carried out for McGee Ltd who were working directly for the client.
This building was the former headquarters of the American Naval attaché in the UK. It was vacated by the US government a few years ago and permission was granted by The Grosvenor Estates in London to convert the building to residential apartments.
The façade of the building was retained and the post-tensioned suspended slabs were constructed within the existing walls supported on new columns. The project was designed by Interspan who worked closely with the Engineer WSP. Great care was taken on the joints to the existing structure to avoid generating unnecessary stresses on the fabric of the building. Enspan also undertook some temporary works schemes on the project.
The project consisted of 11 floors with a total area of 18,000m² and is due for completion this year.
