Lewisham Gateway, London

London

Project details

Lewisham Gateway Phase 2 is a new £375m mixed-use development in South-East London being constructed by Balfour Beatty Ltd for Muse Developments. Situated on land once occupied by the Lewisham Odeon Cinema which famously hosted acts including the Beatles, David Bowie and the Who, this second phase comprises of four buildings of 4, 10, 19 and 30 storeys.

Interspan has been engaged by Carey London to design and construct the post-tension slab works. The 54,000m2 scheme previously included 250mm thick RC slabs which were reduced to 210mm thick by adopting a post-tension solution. This saving in concrete thickness has helped reduce the dead weight of the structure and also provided a raw material saving.

The scheme has been designed to integrate the railway station and the town centre.

Block D1, D2 & C will consist of an array of commercial & leisure space on the lower floors and residential accommodation for the upper levels. Block E will contain a cycle store and an electrical substation on the ground floor, with office space on the upper levels.

Upon completion, the towers will provide 530 residential units.
